update translated from Spanish by sabotagemedia

So far we’ve received a call from our comrade Carlos informing us of the PGR’s decision to impose a 40 day arraigo* to the three. We understand that this is a desperate measure from the PGR* to retain the comrades so they can search for more elements for their conviction. But it is also clear that they want to continue interrogating them, make them sign statements of involvement, torture them, for information and to involve more comrades. Otherwise it is also the way to persuade family to abandon the legal defense of the comrades, because the government’s interest to have a official or common lawyer so they can screw them instead of a legal and political defense. The PGR doesn’t have those elements but are looking for them.

In Montreal comrades have expressed their support for comrades Amelie, Carlos and Fallon outside the Mexican consulate!

*arraigo: an officialized arbitrary preventive detention that can be extended without evidence
**PGR: Federal Prosecutor

letter from Carlos
translation from Spanish taken from montreal mediacoop

With lot’s of energy and rage I write these brief lines to tell you about the conditions of my kidnapping by the government of Mexico City, but also to ramble about some topics that interest me at the moment.

Mi political situation has not yet been decided, and for obvious reasons I can’t go into details as to not screw up my legal defense. The night of the 5th of January, our comrades Fallon and Amelie and myself were detained by members of the police for being the alleged perpetrators of molotov cocktail attacks against the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation, and for the fires of several cars of a NISSAN dealership.

Until today, wednesday, January 8th, we are being accused of terrorism and organized delinquency and destruction of private property.

We are we fine, strong and united and have reached the third day of detention between questions, attempts at scaring us, and elaborate ploys. Like the curious case of the fake human rights group, who once were alone with me, told me that they had been sent by a comrade and told me her name and physical attributes. I initially believed them and I began to chat with one of them who seemed very interested in the case. But it’s easy to identify the methods used by a porker (apologies to the pigs) and I immediately knew he was a cop.

With his supposed intention to defend us, he showed me several photos that pictured me and some friends, and in a friendly fashion he asked me for names and places and I immediately thought “How can a cop try to act like a comrade, when in his heart there is no dignity?” Well, in their training they are domesticated like hunting dogs at the service of their master, without questioning, they only act and don’t feel, giving them one single way to drool and a gleam of malicious harassment their eyes.

On the personal side of things I am an insurrectionary anarchist, what I mean by this is, the rupture with all forms of domination through daily struggle, thinking and re-thinking methods and objectives, using as a point of departure the will of the individual and the organization of social relations in a horizontal fashion, capable of deciding our own lives, starting with the with the destruction of our own mental paradigms that tie us to obedience and submission, to transcend into conflictuality in a permanent and informal manner.

I know that anarchist solidarity is strong like an oak tree, and that always goes farther than simple words

Solidarity with Gustavo Rodríguez, Mario González, Amelie Trudeau, Fallon Poisson, Gabriel Pombo. Felicity Ryder and all the comrades who face deportation, who are fugitives or in prison.

Carlos López “El Chivo”
Attorney General of the Republic’s detention centre, Camarones, Mexico City

letter from Fallon

Hello friends!

We are here together, us on this side and you maybe on the other side. To use the language of the state, there’s years and kilometers that are going to separate us, but the thing we share is bigger than distances or time. The state thinks that it creates distance between us, but on the contrary, we’re going to be closer than ever before! Today is the 8th of January, we have been traveling between fuckin cop cars and provincial and federal detention centres for the past 60 hours, and even though they’ve decided that we will stay here for another 48 hours, they don’t have anything because silence is stronger than repression.

The most important thing right now is to build a force stronger than prisons. We have the context of building international relations. For me solidarity is friendship, I am not a victim or a political prisoner, I want to use the reality that we live now, to build a stronger, bigger friendship. I am ready to fight authority inside here, like on the outside and I’m never going to stop.

Prison is a normal reality and I will use this experience and I hope that you do too, in order to develop a stronger individual strength, that gets more powerful every day.

We are here and we are going to be here to confront both the reality of prison and the reality outside.

A great embrace to you all.

Against authority here and outside!

Fallon

From Anarchist News

On the 9th of January, we answered a call for solidarity with stolen anarchist comrades in Mexico City, Fallon Poisson, Amelie Pillierst and Carlos López Mart. We crept up to a HSBC bank on East Hastings, in occupied Coast Salish Territory (Vancouver, BC), and lit an incendiary device in the ATM area causing a massive fire ball. HSBC is a symbol of capitalism, oppression and domination. So it’s a perfect target for our rage.

This also comes in a time where Canada’s justice minister Peter Mackay is warning activists to not commit illegal actions toward stopping the pipelines. Mackay you can shove your warnings up your fucking ass. The state’s and corporations dreams of massive resource extraction will go up in flames of revolt from the streets to late night sabotage and destruction. The need for freedom, anarchy and liberation will destroy this colonial state. Our acts of sabotage are uncontrollable, strategic and successful. This attack on HSBC is only the beginning of sabotage the will and is occurring. We are also in solidarity with Miq’maq warriors and other protesters still facing charges and harassment by the RCMP pigs and the Canadian state from anti-fracking protests in Elsipogtog.

SOLIDARITY WITH COMRADES FACING IMPRISONMENT IN MEXICO CITY!
SOLIDARITY WITH ALL LAND DEFENDERS AND ANARCHIST COMRADES!
SABOTAGE THE SYSTEMS OF SOCIAL CONTROL, DOMINATION, PATRIARCHY AND OPPRESSION!
LONG LIVE ANARCHY!

The Plan Nord/Le Nord Pour Tous is a plan by the Quebec Government to invest in and promote resource extraction projects in Northern Quebec. Le Plan Nord was originally proposed by Jean Charest’s Liberal government in May 2011, and was presented as an economic development strategy to create job in quebec. When the Parti Quebecois replaced the Liberals in 2012, Le Plan Nord was simply slightly modified and re-named Le Nord Pour Tous. Under Le Nord Pour Tous, the quebec government plans to invest 1.368$ billion of public finds, from 2013-2018, into resource extraction projects and their associated infrastructure in Northern Quebec.

Le nord Pour Tous is not the purported ‘solution’ to an economic crisis, but is part of an ongoing strategy of colonization of nations within canada. Every river diverted and forest destroyed represents areas where hutning food, harvesting medicine, and passing this knowledge onto younger generation can no longer occur. In the words of Pishu Pilot, from the Uashat reserve (one of the territories within the scope of Le Nord Pour Tous), “The Plan Nord affects our territory, and when it affects our territory it affects tradition, culture, our language, our roots, and our history…Plan Nord is a plan that will destroy everything we are as First Nations people.”

There has already been plenty or resistance to Plan Nord/Le Nord Pour Tous. One of the more memorable afternoons during the quebec student strike and associated generalized uprisings was the April 22nd disruption of the ‘Salon de l’emploi du Plan Nord’ in Montreal, where two demos converged to disrupt the functioning of day-to-day society and to wreak havoc on this promotional event for Le Plan Nord. In march 2013 two instances of sabotage, where a SOQUEM office in Chibougamau was vandalized and a poster which hindered access to the highway leading to the Renard Project mine, were claimed in solidarity with resistance to the Plan Nord. There has also been a more consistent resistance from the communities of Uashat and Mani-Utenam, who’s territories would be directly affected by the creation of hydroelectric dams and associated infrastructures along the Romaine River. Resistance has taken the form of blockades of Highway 138 (the main highway in the region), hunger strikes, and Innu-lead demonstrations in Montreal.

The intention of this booklet is to begin to map out what exactly Le Nord Pour Tous is, what the extraction and development projects are, where they are located, who is responsible for them, and which communities are being affected the most immediately. This booklet is in no way complete; but we hope it was act as a good starting point for any further research.

From SabotageMedia

We heard through the media that on the night of November 26 to 27, yuppie businesses in Hochelaga were once again attacked.

The restaurant Le Chasseur and the Le Valois, In Vivo and Bagatelle bistros windows were smashed and graffiti was painted.

Here is a leaflet left behind, taken from media and which we’ve translated from french:

You and your collaborators of gentrification, you come here, in Hochelaga to rot us with your 25 bucks table d’hôte, your crap condos and your hip businessman ideals. It seems quite obvious that your not welcome here. Your presence makes us want to vomit. We know the song too well. Under your cheerful young entrepreneur and unscrupulous airs, your only goal is to colonize our neighborhoods and adapt them to your interests. You have big cash and the cops for your SECURITY and that’s how you plan to succeed. Well you better get the fuck out of here because we want nothing of your sanitized world.

You are not safe in our neighborhood. Your owners union can do nothing against us.
Against your aggression, we attack. Tell your friends and your bourgeois insurance companies that Hochelaga is a hostile environment for investors and will remain so.

In solidarity with all those who struggle.

Recently, we paid a visit to the parking lot of the Ministry of Public Security of Quebec at 600 Fullum, and doused their official vehicles with paint stripper and slashed the tires.

The Ministry of Public Security of Quebec is responsible for, among other things, overseeing the municipal and provincial police and provincial prisons. Ultimately, it is the ministry that is responsible for all aspects of the conditions of imprisonment in Quebec – from the conduct of the police to the items available in canteen.

As we write this, there are two ongoing shows of resistance to the prison system in Canada. One is a hunger strike undertaken by detained immigrants in Ontario who are not accused of any crime, but are detained awaiting deportation proceedings. Their demands include better treatment and an end to detention of immigrants without criminal charges. The hunger strike is now in its fifth week.

The second is a work strike in many federal prisons across the country to protest the recent 30% pay cut for all federal prisoners. The government justifies the pay cut by claiming they are taking room and board from the prisoners. Not only do prisoners already have to work to maintain their own prisons but they will now have to pay to be imprisoned. This pay cut is part of a broader trend in which prisoners face worsening conditions – from longer sentences, stricter parole, double-bunking, and fewer programs in prison.

Solidarity to prisoners in struggle; for an end to all prisons and police.
And to Youri and Guillaume, G20 prisoners, in Bordeaux provincial prison in Montreal.

DEMONSTRATION AGAINST THE HEARINGS OF THE NATIONAL ENERGY BOARD
at the Palais des congrès de Montréal
gathering at SQUARE VICTORIA, corner of Saint-Jacques and McGill
Thursday, OCTOBER 10, starting at 3:30pm
ANTI-COLONIAL – ANTI-CAPITALIST – FOR DEFENDING THE EARTH

From October 8 to 11, the National Energy Board will be holding hearings at the Palais des congrès in downtown Montréal so that it can “listen” to the concerns of the public about the reversal Line 9, a 38-year-old pipeline that Enbridge, a major pipeline transport company based out of Calgary, wants to use to pump oil from the Athabasca tar sands to the refineries in Montréal-Est.

From Sarnia, Ontario, to its eastern terminus on the Island, Line 9 passes within 50 km of an estimated 9.1 million people. The aging pipeline currently pumps oil from other continents inland, but Enbridge plans to move oil in the opposite direction, transporting Athabasca heavy crude eastward to New England and markets overseas. The total volume of oil moved through the pipeline each day will increase, too. Line 9 wasn’t built to handle such a quantity of heavy crude. It’s not a matter of if it will rupture, but when. We intend to fight the reversal of Line 9, to protect the land we live on and the water we drink.

In the context of Canada’s ongoing genocide of indigenous people in Alberta, as well as catastrophic climate change that will see millions of people starve, settler Québécois need to go further than narrow self-interest and proactively contribute to the struggle to shut down the Athabasca tar sands megaproject.

The National Energy Board hearings at the Palais des congrès will serve to legitimate the decision that political elites have, in fact, already made. These hearings should be confronted and disrupted!

In memory of Pavlos Fyssas, a 34 year old anti-fascist rapper who was murdered by a Golden Dawn member in Greece, we spent an evening postering hundreds of anti-fascist posters against Golden Dawn, whose members have opened a chapter in Montreal.

Alerta! Alerta! Anti-Fascista!

Golden Dawn, a far-right Greek political party with open fascist/neo-nazi tendencies has opened a local chapter in Montreal. The first public initiative of this group was to organize a food, clothing, and medicine drive to be distributed to so-called “pure Greeks’’ in need due to the economic hardship across Greece.

Who is Golden Dawn?
In the 2012 Greek national elections, Golden Dawn, which had never previously been elected, secured 18 seats in the Greek parliament. They ran on a platform of fighting the rising austerity measures and combatting the influx of immigration which they blame for much of Greece’s economic problems and high levels of crime. Despite many claims that Golden Dawn has no ties to the neo-nazi movement, the party’s newspaper of the same name clearly demonstates their neo-nazi ideology: Ilias Kasidiaris, a former spokesman for Golden Dawn, wrote an article in their newspaper on the occasion of the anniversary of Adolph Hitler’s birthday, stating that Hitler was “a great social reformer and an organizer of a model State”.

The “nationalist’’ tendencies of Golden Dawn have also been made clear on the ground in Greece. Among other notable initiatives, Golden Dawn has:
• Set up of Greek-only food banks and blood banks for “pure” Greeks.
• Attacked an Athens theatre performing “Corpus Cristi’’, a play exploring themes of gay sexuality in christianity.
• Organized almost-daily daytime attacks on migrants that have left many hospitalized.
• Attacked migrant-run businesses, community centres, and markets, especially those that are operating without proper documentation.
• Proposed reinstalling anti-personnel landmine fields on the Greek borders to curb illegal immigration.
• Proposed banning of Gay Pride parades “for a thousand years’’.

It is also telling that over 50% of Greece’s national police force voted for Golden Dawn in the last election, representing approximately 7% of Golden Dawn’s supporters.

The appearance of a group such as Golden Dawn is nothing new or exceptional. In times of economic uncertainty, the far-right always capitalizes on widespread fear and insecurity to bolster its political platform of national, cultural, and ethnic purity; leading attacks on those they deem undesirable (migrants, queers, leftists, anarchists), while encouraging the strengthening of a strong State with an efficient repressive apparatus.

Golden Dawn is scapegoating immigration particularly as the cause of economic instability facing Greece and much of the “developed’’ world during these times of austerity. This scapegoating distracts from the real causes of the poverty and degradation; the causes which stem from a global capitalist system that would prefer to put a country in a situation of unprecedented unemployment than lose a cent of profit in global markets; a system that prioritizes strengthening its police forces and bailing out its banks at the cost of cutting social spending, rather than maintaining a quality of life for its people.

The best defense against these global markets and the fascists who prop them up is solidarity and self-organization among the excluded, those who don’t benefit from a jump in the stock markets or the next war for resources.

Fight Fascism! Fight Capitalism!
