A Challenge: Spread the Strike to Every Jail, Juvie, and Prison, in Canada too!

This is a challenge to anyone who is supportive of the September 9th prisoners’ strike but who has remained on the sidelines until now. In order for this strike to not be snuffed out by a handful of prison censors and violent guards, it needs to spread uncontrollably beyond their reach. And because prisons strictly forbid communication between prisoners, it is our responsibility on the outside to facilitate this contagion. Spreading the call to prisons in Canada will further this contagion, and give an opportunity to link our struggle against prison and the world that needs it, through prison walls and across borders. ...

How to safely submit communiques to MTL Counter-info

Tails is a computer operating system designed with security in mind, which can boot off a USB or CD, from any computer. After shutting down Tails and ejecting the USB or CD, the computer can start again with its usual operating system. Tails is designed to leave no trace on the computer by not interacting with the hard-disk, and only using the RAM for memory (which is automatically erased when Tails shuts down). In addition, it forces every internet connection to go through the Tor network [1. TOR is a network of proxies run by volunteers with the explicit purpose of maintaining anonymity online. With TOR, your connection goes through three proxies. You connect to TOR and each of the three proxies (nodes) you access encrypts your data. No individual node can know both what you are connected to and who you are. The third node decrypts the data and accesses the website, sending the information back through the proxies in encrypted form.], so is much safer than using just a Tor browser on your normal operating system. ...

September 9th Prisoner Strike across the US

“We are not beasts and we do not intend to be beaten or driven as such… What has happened here is but the sound before the fury of those who are oppressed.” – L. D. Barkley, participant in Attica rebellion On September 9, 1971, the inmates of Attica Correctional Facility in upstate New York seized control of the prison. The Attica uprising, which lasted for five days, was not the first and certainly not the last prison rebellion. And yet its importance is indelibly marked within the history of the struggle against white supremacy and the prison society we still inhabit today. ...

Politician attacked during vigil for queers killed in Orlando

On the afternoon of Thursday, June 16, some respectable gay organizations held a ‘vigil’ in Montreal’s Gay Village for the victims of the recent shooting at a gay club in Orlando. The Collectif carré rose (CCR), which campaigns for more cops and security in the Village to counter ‘homophobic attacks’ (read: rich people getting mugged), disgustingly invited a slew of local and provincial politicians to speak to the crowd, including Quebec premier Philippe Couillard. While the politicians pretended to not be complicit in violence against queer and trans people, mining the crowd’s grief for political capital, the CCR and their buddies salivated at the promise of new lobbying possibilities for their pro-cop bullshit. ...

After-party riot at Francofolies: fuck la police

Submitted to MTL Counter-info Triggering fomo (fear of missing out) in anarchists across Montreal who aren’t francophone music fans, over a hundred Francofolies festival-goers rioted last friday night after a performance by french rapper MHD. Invitation to Rebel!Rebuild!Rewild 3rd Annual Eco-Anarchist Action Camp

We are pleased to invite you all to the third annual Rebel! Rebuild! Rewild! Action Camp, which will be held on Anishnabe territory from June 1-5, just North of Ottawa. Our goal is simple - to bring people together in the spirit of revolutionary ecology, in the hopes that this will strengthen the radical movement in our bioregion. You can call us environmentalists if you want, but our environmentalism isn’t about preserving this system. Capitalism will never be sustainable, and Empire will always require colonization to feed its insatiable appetites. We oppose capitalism, and we oppose colonialism. We see civilization on a collision course with its fate, and we intend to survive its demise. For that, we need access to land, water, knowledge of ecology, and perhaps most importantly, strong relationships rooted in affinity, collectivity, reciprocity, and love. Our vision is of constellation of autonomous communities, able to meet their needs independently, able to defend themselves. ...

For the proliferation of the balade: some thoughts on the anti-police demo in Hochelag'

After having participated in what was called as a demo against the police in Hochelaga on Thursday April 14th, we had the urge to share some reflections outside of our living rooms (towards yours perhaps?). First off, we were fucking excited to see a flyer circulate that was calling for a neighborhood demo in Hochelag’. We want to be able to participate in moments of struggle in the neighborhood and not only downtown and/or in demos called on Facebook. ...
