On the night of Wednesday, August 5, the windows and door of a residence were broken, and a Microsoft office was targeted with Molotov cocktails.
This action targeted the official residence of the founder and the headquarters of Munera Intelligence. Munera develops AI-powered drones that will watch over our streets with AI technology following an agreement with the City of Montreal announced in June. The windows and door of Dominic MacDuff-Auger were destroyed. According to him, he lives at 1317, rue Saint-Zotique Est.
The City insists that these drones will only be used in construction zones. However, like any camera system, the data they collect will only reinforce the surveillance system that the police are putting in place to cover the entire city. This drone program is part of a wider project that includes the recently announced deployment of cameras powered by AI and managed by the police across all of the city, which aims to normalize growing intrusions into our lives and wage a constant war on our capacity to live in freedom. There is no doubt that if the use of AI drones by the city is allowed to develop, our future will more and more resemble a world where the sky is filled with robots making Amazon deliveries and watching over our total obedience to increasingly authoritarian governments.
The same night, Molotov cocktails were thrown at a Microsoft office. This attack was in response to the quiet expansion of data centers, in which Microsoft plays a major role. Data centers are a key element of contemporary capitalist power. They are at the core of the rise of artificial intelligence, which is destroying the planet and creating new surveillance tools in doing so. Microsoft’s technology, among others, is used by the Israeli government in its campaign of genocide against the Palestinian people. During this attack, challenges were encountered lighting the Molotovs — challenges that did not arise during tests. Be assured, these difficulties will be corrected in the future.
We were told once upon a time that a better future awaited us — a future in which people would have everything they need, water and food would be abundant and healthy, and the air perfectly breathable, in which work would be reduced to the minimum, and people would live without gods nor masters. What happened to this future? Need we simply wait for the science fiction of a 1984, Mad Max, or Blade Runner to become reality, while we serve as guinea pigs for technological sects? No, as long as a revolution is still possible, you know us: we will be there to see it through!
No more mercy. It’s time to declare war on AI, surveillance and their developers! The methods we choose must be on par with the seriousness of our situation: Molotovs, house attacks, and more. We can no longer delay the moment of fighting, struggling, attacking — and so on until total victory. The total victory of the social revolution. The total victory of life. AI must be destroyed!
