CANSEC is an annual weapons trade show that has taken place in Ottawa since 1989 as ARMX and as CANSEC since 1998. CANSEC is promoted as “Canada’s leading defence, security and emerging technology event” when in reality, it is a marketplace for mass death. The companies invited to this event fuel genocide, occupation, theft and destruction of land from Palestine to Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, Sudan, Congo, the Philippines, and Wet’suwet’en territory.

The US military assault on Venezuela and the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Friday night shocked the world and tore down the veil of international law.

The actions of Trump and the US government are once again rivalling those of the largest criminal organizations, with complete impunity. The entire American continent is now threatened by this same imperialist system. By continuing to raise the issue of cartels and drug trafficking, Trump is making thinly veiled threats against Colombia, Mexico, and Cuba, remaining firmly aligned with his plan to “restore American supremacy” in Latin America. Let us not be fooled—these excuses will also be used to tighten anti-immigration policies and legitimize future imperialist interventions.

Sabotage of Ottawa factory producing parts for Israel’s F-35 warplanes

Earlier this week a group of people sabotaged Gastops’ factory in Ottawa, the only place in the world where engine sensors are produced for Lockheed’s F-35 combat jets — including the ones dropping 2,000 pound bombs on Gaza. We cut the wiring inside all of the heat pumps on the Gastops roof, locked them out with official Ministry of Health and Safety lock-out tags, shut off the gas, broke the handles for their systems, and cut the lines to their backup communication system on the way out.

Political violence is a delicate topic—and not only because of how easy it is to find ourselves getting criminalized for conversations among comrades about violence.

Violence is something to take very seriously, since how we choose to use or respond to it shapes our struggles and ourselves. I do believe violence changes us, for better or for worse. We can’t choose to escape the violence of capitalism, and likewise the violence of colonization, racism, and patriarchy is inescapable for many. We can, however, choose how to use violence in our struggles against those forces.

“Solidarity Collectives” (former “Operation Solidarity”) is an anti-authoritarian volunteer network formed before the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine to help comrades on the front line and civilians affected by the war. “Collectives” isn’t merely a name but the essence of our initiative which was joined by various organizations and groups from Ukraine, Germany, Poland, France, US, Netherlands, Canada, and many other countries.

None of it would be possible without a huge number of people united by the idea of helping the Ukrainian resistance movement. The ABC network (especially ABC Dresden , germany - ABC Galicja , No Borders team poland, 161crew poland, XVX Tacticaid, The Antifa International from US, Yellow peril tactical from US, Ecological Platform from Lviv, and many others- they all made it happen. And without our friends in Labour initiatives, we wouldn’t have a beautiful office/warehouse in Kyiv.

Hi! We prepared FAQ about folks from our platoon: are we anarchists and what we do, all is here. We’ll keep posted who follow our activities and support us.

Are you anarchists?

About half identify as anarchists. These are people with different backgrounds: some came from revolutionary groups, others from cultural, educational and social projects. But it is incorrect to call the whole platoon anarchic. It is more correct to say that we all adhere to anti-authoritarian views, we are all fighting together against Russian imperialism and we all value direct democracy. Therefore, we have introduced a system of elected foremans borrowed from the Kurdish rebels, meetings are held equal, everyone free to express criticism, also about the work of chiefs. We held democratic elections to the media committee as well.

Montreal Anarchist Solidarity with Anti-fascist Resistance in Ukraine and War Resisters in Russia and Belarus

(March 27, 2022) A small group of Montreal-area anarchists gathered downtown earlier today, and marched to the Russian consulate in solidarity with anti-fascists and the anti-war movement in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. Protesters held up banners reading (in a mix of English, French and Russian): “No to war!”, “Putin: Fuck Off!”, “No more Tsars! Up the anti-fascist resistance everywhere!”, and “Solidarity with Ukrainian and Russian war resisters”. At the consulate, whose gates were already vandalized with red paint, protesters attached the banners, and read a communiqué from an anti-war action in Moscow. Before leaving, a few protesters egged the front of the consulate.

Here, we publish two statements from longtime Russian anarchist projects that offer some analysis of the situation in Russia and how the invasion of Ukraine might shift it.

Protests are scheduled in Russia for tomorrow (Sunday, February 27). We are still waiting for a report from our contacts in Ukraine, which we will publish when it arrives.

Call to Action: Solidarity with Rojava—Against the Turkish Invasion!

On October 6, the Trump administration announced it was pulling US troops out of northern Syria, essentially giving Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan a green light to invade Rojava, carry out ethnic cleansing, and forcibly resettle the area. We are calling for people around the world to engage in protest and/or disruption at Turkish consulates, US government offices, arms manufacturers, and businesses connected with the Turkish government, such as Turkish Airlines.
