From the Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival

After 18 years of incredible anarchist theatre, the Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival collective has decided to stop producing the festival.

We want to thank all the artists, volunteers, former collective members and the public who attended, for their generous contributions and support.

This was an all-volunteer festival with no government or corporate sponsorship.

We will gladly assist other anarchists who would like to mount another festival.

The Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival (MIATF), the only festival in the world dedicated to anarchist theatre, is currently seeking plays, monologues, dance-theatre, puppet shows, mime, etc., in English, French and other languages, on the theme of anarchism or any subject pertaining to anarchism, i.e. against all forms of oppression including the State, capitalism, war, patriarchy, etc.

The Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival (MIATF), the only festival in the world dedicated to anarchist theatre, is currently seeking plays, texts, monologues, dance-theatre, puppet shows, mime, in English and French, on the theme of anarchism or any subject pertaining to anarchism, i.e. against all forms of oppression including the State, capitalism, war, patriarchy, etc. We will also consider pieces exploring ecological, social and economic justice, racism, feminism, poverty, class and gender oppression from an anarchist perspective. We welcome work from anarchist and non-anarchist writers.

MONTREAL’S 14th annual INTERNATIONAL ANARCHISTTHEATREFESTIVAL May 17th to May 23rd, 2019

The fourteenth annual Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival (MIATF) – the world’s biggest anarchist theatre festival – will present 30 artists (seven troupes) from Chile, the US, France, and Montreal for three nights of provocative, socially engaged, freedom-loving theatre, Fri May 17th at L’Achoppe (ask a local punk for the address), 7:30pm, Tues May 21st and Wed May 22nd, at La Sala Rossa, 4848 boul St-Laurent, 7pm. The wrap party/live music show is Thurs May 23rd, at the Casa del Popolo, 4873 boul St-Laurent, 8pm.

The thirteenth annual Montreal International Anarchist Theatre Festival (MIATF) – the world’s biggest and only anarchist theatre festival – will present 20 artists (seven troupes) from the USA, France and Montreal for two nights of provocative, socially engaged, freedom-loving theatre, Tues May 22nd and Wed May 23rd, at La Sala Rossa, 4848 boul St-Laurent, 7:30pm.

Tickets $13 each night, or $20 for a two-night special, available at the door or online . No reserved seats.
